Apple and Samsung are expected to introduce smartwatches with a blood glucose meter this year, the main test that monitors the condition of diabetics. According to reports, Apple has already completed the development of the technology and is now just waiting for the approval of the medical authorities in various countries. Samsung is also close to completing the development.

In both cases, it is an optical sensor that eliminates the need for a puncture for a blood sample, and does not actually require anything other than a daily charge of the watch. If the technology is found to be reliable and accurate and approved in time for the launch of Apple Watch Series 7 and Galaxy Watch 4 later this year, then it is potentially a real revolution and a significant contribution to the lives of those suffering from the disease.

In addition to the revolutionary sensor, the seventh edition of the Apple Watch is also expected to come with improved water resistance, precise sensors that can detect a wider range of sporting activities, and support for additional designs for the watch display, although this may be part of the WatchOS operating system. The previous ones of the smartwatch.

Note that in the current model, the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple has incorporated a sensor to measure blood oxygen levels (SpO2), but cautioned that this sensor is unable to provide results at a level of accuracy that matches that of professional medical equipment and therefore results should be considered as a recommendation only.
