Apple faces an extraordinary challenge in producing a sufficient number of iPhone 12 devices to meet demand. According to Asian media reports , the company was forced to improvise original solutions, and decided to transfer electronic components that were originally intended for the production of the iPad Pro tablet, and instead use them for the production of iPhone 12 Pro devices.
These are LiDAR sensors, which are used for accurate measurement of distance and depth, and energy management chips. The decision may cause delays in the production of up to 2 million iPad Pro units, but since the iPhone is a profitable and more important product, Apple chose to compromise. In total, Apple plans to produce about 80 million units of the various iPhone 12 models before the end of the current year, but given the continuation of the Corona epidemic, it is not certain that it will be able to meet this ambitious goal.
However, Apple’s plans are not limited to the latest generation. To try and meet the additional demand, Apple has ordered no less than 20 million units of the older iPhone models, including the iPhone 11, iPhone SE and iPhone XR. These will reach store shelves at cheaper prices than before, although even there Apple has decided to remove the headphones and chargers from the packaging .
