Microsoft could not have dreamed of a more successful year than last year. The company has recorded an impressive milestone of over 1.3 billion active Windows 10 users and it does not end just here.
During the Corona epidemic more and more people were purchasing laptops and desktops, whether due to the need to work from home or upgrade the existing one. As a result, Microsoft has also seen significant growth in hardware sales, due to huge shortages in components and processors.
Most of the growth of Windows 10 was mainly in OEM sales, ie sales of laptops, desktops and tablets made by the big brands (Lenovo, Asus, Dell, etc.). In the Xbox area, the growth was already over 34% and even in the search area, it recorded a growth of 17%.
Speaking of revenue, according to the latest report for the quarter ended March 31, the company recorded a 44% year-over-year increase of $ 41.7 billion. The main growth engine is given to Office 365 and the company’s Azure cloud services. The latter alone grew by 33% in annual revenue.
“A year into the plague, digital adoption has not slowed down at all. It has accelerated and this is just the beginning.” Said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. “We are building the cloud of the next decade, expanding the markets we are addressing and continuing with accelerated development across the market for our customers.”
